The Night The Stars Fell

In a tribute to the Native American culture and tradition, Tomasz Rut has just completed an original painting of the sacred white buffalo, an extremely rare animal, first documented as a trophy of the Cheyenne hunt during the Leonid Meteor Shower in 1833 (The Night the Stars Fell).

With admiration for the American Indian history, the artist wishes to acknowledge and honor the great spiritual importance of the symbols, continuing beliefs and the traditional way of life of the Native People.

Olympica

Celebrating the spirit of the Olympic competition and glory, Tomasz presents his new painting “Olympica” in a tribute to the athletes partaking in the 2012 XXX Summer Games in London.

“I am dedicating this work to my father and to all the Olympic athletes in the past and present who, with their determination, persistence and achievements have been contributing to defining the limits of our human aspirations and ambitions”, says Tomasz, son of the Olympic medalist from Rome, 1960, Tadeusz Rut, who passed in 2002.

The artist has also commemorated his late father, who greatly inspired his artwork, in another recent work and part of his Olympic series, “The Hammer Thrower”.

Tomasz Rut’s Art in the Vatican Collection!

On Wednesday, October 12, 2011 during the artist’s audience with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, attended by thousands of spectators from around the world at the St. Peter’s square in the Vatican, two large paintings by Tomasz Rut entered the St. Peter’s cathedral after being blessed by the Holy Father.

During his meeting with Pope Benedict, Tomasz presented him also with the book recently published by Libreria Editrice Vaticana featuring the third of his series of “Nolite Timere” paintings honoring Pope John Paul II and President Lech Walesa.

“TO KALON” (greek: the beautiful)

In one of his latest paintings, “TO KALON” (greek: the beautiful), TR portrayed his friend, Pietros Maneos, an extraordinary young poet whose verses, reverberating the classical lyricism and ideals, express the aesthetics germane to his artwork. “The guardian of the ever alive beauty”, Mr. Maneos is the author of “The Soul of a Young Man” published by S. Perocchi. He has recently narrated Tomasz Rut’s video documentary.

Ode on Tomasz Rut’s ΤΟ.ΚΑΛΟΝ

A Renaissance of The Beautiful
sprung from the dextrous, deft hand
of Tomasz Rut:
a Modern Michelangelo
the veritable son of Caravaggio;
whose refined sensibility
is worthy of Apollo, the father of Beauty.

Though he is descended from the heroic Hussars,
his Soul is fully Italian, fully Grecian.
For he is a disciple of The Beautiful
in a world that is often hostile
to this everlasting, ever-beautiful ideal.

He is an apostle of The Aesthetic

Son of Olympic Athlete Pays Homage to Father

Tadeusz Rut

Tadeusz Rut, born in 1931, was known to many track and field fans as one of the leading athletes of Polish Olympic “wonder team” in 1950′s and 60′s. In a country devastated by tragic history, World War II and in a grip of the stalinist, soviet regime, he and his peers, winning international trophies, were the national heroes, who elevated spirit of the nation desiring full sovereignty and recognition of its pride and traditions.

A bearer of the Polish flag in Melbourne, Australia 1956, an Olympic medalist from Rome in 1960, European gold medalist from Stockholm in 1958, and multiple Polish and European record holder in hammer throwing, Tadeusz was also a hero and inspiration for his son, Tomasz, an artist now living in Florida, named as one of the five most collectible contemporary artists by Robb Report.

“My father often took me with him to the games and his trainings when I was a kid”, recalls Tomasz, who despite an athletic build didn’t follow his father’s career in sports, “He even made me a little baby hammer to throw, so I hope I didn’t disappoint him too much by drawing since I was a child, instead of throwing…”

Tadeusz received the highest medals of honor from the Polish government twice: under the communist and then under the democratic rule. He was buried with honors in 2002, with most of the remaining athletic legends in attendance at the ceremony.

“I inherited my father’s many trophies and a huge commemorative album of all his action photos and press clippings, which my mother made for him in the 60′s”, says Tomasz, “I’ve felt compelled to express my own admiration for his accomplishments and I’ve recently created a painting dedicated to him”.With the upcoming 2012 XXX Olympic Games in London, where his father threw hammer in 1959, Tomasz intends to create several more paintings in memory of his father that pay homage to all of the Olympic athletes who inspire our culture and help define human ability.

Tomasz has started a couple of new paintings dedicated to the two of his most inspirational, contemporary and historic Polish figures: the beloved Pope John Paul II and the Nobel Prize winner, most celebrated President of democratic Poland, Lech Walesa.

We hope that Mr. Rut’s artwork will become a part of the ceremony of the beatification of Pope John Paul II in Vatican on May 1st, 2011, viewed by millions of spectators and followers.

Tomasz feels it would be his greatest honor and perhaps, the culmination of his artistic career to have his art included in the Vatican collection to accompany the greatest creators of all time, such as Michaelangelo and Raphael.

A Visit From President Lech Walesa

We were very honored on the evening of February 16 2011, to host an event and dinner with the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Solidarity Leader, and the first Democratic President of Poland Mr. Lech Walesa. Accompanying President Walesa were Lady Blanka Rosenstiel an honorary Consul of the Polish Republic and President of The American Institute of Polish Culture, Countess Barbara Pagowska-Cooper, and Mr. Piotr Gulczynski President of Lech Walesa Institute. Tomasz was delighted to cook for one of his personal heroes and prepared several dishes interpreting traditional Polish cuisine. The evening culminated in the artist presenting one of his original paintings as a gift to Mr. Walesa. Among various topics, President Walesa and Tomasz discussed the possibility of including the Artist’s work in the upcoming beatification of Pope John Paul II at the Vatican on May 1, 2011.
